Torre dei Conti is a medieval tower in central Rome built by the Conti family and located adjacent to the Roman Forum. The structure dates to the high medieval period and formed part of the fortified urban presence of powerful Roman families.
The tower originally rose above surrounding medieval and ancient ruins and served both defensive and status functions for its builders. It has been repaired and altered several times over the centuries but remains a visible medieval element within the ancient core of Rome.
The tower sits near the Forum and Trajan’s Forum in the historic centre of Rome, within walking distance of the Colosseum and other major archaeological sites.
