Toonumbar National Park is a protected area in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales that conserves remnant subtropical rainforest, wet sclerophyll forest and upland habitats on the Great Dividing Range. The park protects biodiversity values typical of the region and provides habitat for native birds and mammals.
Visitors can use a network of walking tracks and management trails for short walks and birdwatching in rainforest and forest margins. Scenic lookouts and picnic areas provide access to the park’s landscapes, and the reserve is used for bushwalking, nature observation and low-intensity camping where permitted.
The area was reserved and later declared a national park to conserve remaining patches of subtropical rainforest and associated ecosystems on the Great Dividing Range. Management focuses on protecting ecological values and facilitating low-impact visitor access.
The park sits inland in northern New South Wales in the Northern Rivers region, near towns in the Kyogle area, and forms part of the upland landscape of the Great Dividing Range.
