Tito Bustillo Cave

Tito Bustillo Cave is a Paleolithic rock-art site in northern Spain, containing parietal paintings and engravings from the Upper Paleolithic. The cave is internationally recognised for its high-quality prehistoric images, including animal motifs and hand stencils.

The main attraction is a painted chamber and associated engraved panels where prehistoric artists produced multiple figurative motifs. Scientific studies and careful conservation have documented the artworks and their archaeological context.

Excavations and research during the 20th century uncovered archaeological deposits, human and faunal remains and associated material that place the artwork in the Late Pleistocene period. The cave and its finds have contributed to understanding of Upper Paleolithic cultural expression in Iberia.

The cave is located near the coastal town of Ribadesella in Asturias, northern Spain, and is accessed by local roads; the nearby Tito Bustillo Interpretation Centre manages visitor access and exhibits artefacts and explanatory material.
