Tindhólmur
Island Dramatic sea stacks rising from Faroe coastal waters
Tindhólmur is a small rocky islet off the coast of the island of Vágar in the Faroe Islands, notable for its multiple jagged peaks and steep sea cliffs. The islet forms a distinctive silhouette that is a familiar coastal landmark in the area.
There are no regular services or infrastructure on the islet and access is generally by private boat or viewed from the Vágar coastline. The rugged terrain and steep cliffs limit onshore visits and make the islet primarily a visual landmark.
Tindhólmur has been shaped by marine erosion and volcanic rock formations typical of the Faroes; it is part of the coastal island chain off Vágar.
The islet lies off the western or southwestern shore of Vágar and can be seen from nearby coastal settlements such as Sørvágur and Gásadalur.
- Viewing points: The islet is best viewed from the Vágur and Sørvágur coastal viewpoints or by boat for close-up photographs of its rugged profile.
