Tierpark Hagenbeck is a combined zoo and aquarium in Hamburg, Germany, established by Carl Hagenbeck in the early 20th century. It is known for pioneering open, barless enclosures and panoramic views of animals.

The site contains mixed-species exhibits, an aquarium section and themed enclosures that aim to replicate natural habitats. Visitors often see large mammals, elephants, big cats and tropical aquatic displays in an accessible layout.

Carl Hagenbeck opened the park in 1907 and developed the concept of panoramic zoo design that influenced modern zoo architecture. The site expanded over the 20th century to include aquarium facilities and revised enclosures.

Situated in the Stellingen quarter of Hamburg, the park is accessible by public transport and lies northwest of the city center near major roads and suburban neighborhoods.

  • Arrive at opening to see many animals at their most active and to avoid the busiest visitor hours later in the day; early arrival also helps with easier viewing at popular enclosures.
