How to Get to Tieflimauer #
The Tieflimauer lies in central Styria near the towns of Trieben and Fohnsdorf. From Trieben (about 10-15 minutes’ drive) follow local roads toward the hamlets south of the B114; a small lane leads down to the wall. Car is the practical option; local buses serve Trieben and Fohnsdorf but will require a 1-2 km walk along country lanes to reach the site.
Tips for Visiting Tieflimauer #
- Approach the wall from the village side to see the deeper, older mortar joints in the lower courses - the weathered mortar tells the construction story.
- Bring a camera with a tele lens: the span frames distant Styrian hills unusually well at dawn and dusk.
- Check local parish noticeboards in nearby Fohnsdorf or Trieben for guided history walks; small local tours often pass the Tieflimauer.
