Tepuka
Island Small Funafuti islet in Tuvalu's central atoll
A small islet in Funafuti atoll, Tepuka offers beaches, coral reefs and day‑trip snorkeling from Fongafale. Visitors to Tuvalu book boat excursions here to swim, sun and spot reef fish.
Tepuka is a small islet within the Funafuti atoll of Tuvalu, part of the ring of motu that form the coral atoll surrounding the lagoon. It is one of several uninhabited or sparsely used islets in the atoll.
The islet offers coral-fringed shoreline, shallow lagoon waters and typical atoll vegetation; visitors who reach it by boat encounter snorkeling and small-scale beach areas rather than built facilities. There are no formal tourist services on the islet.
Like other motu in Funafuti, Tepuka developed as part of the coral atoll formation and has been used historically by local islanders for fishing, temporary camps and resource gathering. The atoll itself has long been the centre of Tuvaluan habitation and activity.
Tepuka lies within the Funafuti lagoon in the island nation of Tuvalu in the central Pacific, forming part of the small chain of islets that encircle the atoll’s lagoon.
