Tartini Square
Plaza Seafront piazza in Piran centered on Tartini monument
Piran’s Tartini Square fronts the Adriatic with Venetian‑era facades and the statue of composer Giuseppe Tartini; tourists enjoy seaside cafés, summer concerts and narrow old‑town alleys.
Tartini Square is the main public square in the historic centre of Piran (Pirano), a coastal town on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast, named after the composer Giuseppe Tartini.
The open paved square is a focal point for local life and tourism, framed by historic townhouses, cafés and shops and anchored by a statue of Tartini. The square provides direct views toward the sea and the town’s small harbour and is a hub for pedestrian circulation through Piran’s narrow streets.
The square developed as part of Piran’s medieval and later urban expansion and was later associated with Tartini, who was born in the town. It has long served as the civic and social heart of Piran’s waterfront district.
Situated in Piran’s compact Old Town on the Gulf of Trieste, the square sits at the edge of the Adriatic and is within walking distance of the town’s harbour and the hilltop St. George’s parish church.
- Central monument: Dominated by a bronze statue of composer Giuseppe Tartini and flanked by cafes, it opens onto the Adriatic and the town's seafront.
