Šumarice Memorial Park

Šumarice Memorial Park is a public memorial and park in the Kragujevac area of central Serbia that commemorates civilian victims of mass executions during World War II. The park was established on the execution sites and is a national place of remembrance.

The park contains multiple large sculptural monuments, formal paths, and planted groves arranged across the site where the executions occurred. Visitors encounter memorial inscriptions, ossuary areas, and a museum exhibition that explains the events and lists victims.

On 21 October 1941 occupying German forces executed thousands of civilians from Kragujevac and nearby communities in reprisal operations; the killings are among the largest single massacres of civilians in occupied Yugoslavia. After the war the area was converted into a memorial park with monuments and a museum to preserve the memory of the victims.

The memorial complex lies on the outskirts of Kragujevac in Central Serbia, set in a wooded area that preserves the original execution sites and provides a dedicated landscape for remembrance.
