Stutthof concentration camp

Stutthof was a Nazi concentration and extermination camp established near the village of Sztutowo (Stutthof) close to the Baltic coast in what is now northern Poland. It was operated by Nazi Germany and detained civilians, political prisoners and others during World War II.

The site functioned as a detention and forced labour complex from its opening in 1939 until liberation in 1945, and later many victims were killed there. Today the grounds include a museum and memorial that preserve original camp features, exhibitions of artifacts and documentation, and marked areas such as the former crematoria and burial places.

The memorial site is located approximately 35 kilometres north of Gdańsk and is accessible by road; it is organised for educational visits, with informational panels and guided routes that explain the camp’s history and the fate of those imprisoned there.
