St. Alexander’s Church is a neoclassical church on Three Crosses Square in central Warsaw. The building dates from the early 19th century and is a well known city landmark.
The church features a columned portico and dome characteristic of neoclassical design and fronts one of Warsaw’s main thoroughfares, making it a frequent point of reference on city walks. The square around the church is a common meeting point and transit hub.
Commissioned in the early 1800s and associated with the reign of Alexander I of Russia, the church was later damaged during the Second World War and subsequently restored. Its rebuilding in the postwar period returned it to its prewar appearance.
Set on Plac Trzech Krzyży in central Warsaw, the church sits at the junction of Nowy Świat and other major streets and is close to parks and diplomatic districts.
