Sounio National Park is a protected coastal area in the southern part of the Attica region of Greece, encompassing the promontory of Cape Sounion. The area is noted for its dramatic coastal cliffs, sea views and Mediterranean biotopes.
The park’s shoreline offers walking and viewing opportunities along rocky headlands and beaches; visitors commonly come for scenic views, coastal habitat and access to the archaeological site on Cape Sounion. The landscape is predominantly scrub, rocky shore and pine-covered slopes.
The landform and coastal features developed naturally; the most prominent human-made feature in the vicinity is the ancient Temple of Poseidon on Cape Sounion, which dates to the 5th century BCE. Sounio National Park sits on the southernmost tip of the Attica peninsula overlooking the Aegean Sea, roughly along the coastal route southeast of central Athens.

Organized tours and regional buses depart Athens; driving allows stops along the scenic Saronic coast. Parking is available near the archaeological site.

- Visit the Temple of Poseidon at sunset - the light on the Doric columns as the sun drops into the Aegean is the classic image for a reason.
- Combine a trip with a drive along the coastal road from Athens (about 1.5-2 hours) to make the most of sea views and small seaside tavernas en route.
