How to Get to Sorrento
Sorrento is most commonly reached via Naples - Naples International Airport (NAP) and Napoli Centrale station are the usual gateways. Ferries and hydrofoils from Naples port (Molo Beverello) and regional buses complete connections to the Sorrento peninsula.
Naples International Airport (NAP): From Naples airport you can take the Alibus to Napoli Centrale (about €5, 20-30 min) and then transfer to the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento (see train section). Alternatively the Curreri private coach runs direct from Napoli Capodichino Airport to Sorrento (about €10, ~70-90 min depending on traffic). A private taxi or transfer takes roughly 50-75 minutes and typically costs around €70-€100.
Rome Fiumicino (FCO) / Rome Ciampino (CIA): If you fly into Rome you can reach Naples by high-speed train from Roma Termini to Napoli Centrale (1-2 hours, tickets commonly €20-€50) and then continue to Sorrento by Circumvesuviana or coach and ferry (overall travel time 3-4 hours).
Train: The key rail connection is the Circumvesuviana commuter line from Napoli Garibaldi (below Napoli Centrale) to Sorrento - journey time ~1h 10min. Tickets for the Circumvesuviana are low-cost (single-journey regional fares around a few euros). High-speed trains (Frecciarossa/Italo) serve Napoli Centrale from Rome and other major cities; from Napoli Centrale switch to the Circumvesuviana.
Bus: The Curreri coach runs direct from Napoli (airport and central areas) to Sorrento in about 70-90 minutes with fares around €8-€12. Local SITA buses link Sorrento with towns along the Amalfi Coast (short hops typically a few euros, times vary by route).
