Šolta

Šolta is a Croatian island in the central Dalmatian archipelago, administratively part of Split-Dalmatia County. It is characterised by small fishing villages, olive groves and a low-key tourism profile compared with nearby larger islands.

Visitors are typically attracted to the island’s coastal harbours, local seafood and olive-oil based gastronomy, and the quieter pace compared with Split or Hvar. There are short coastal walks and boat-accessible coves rather than large resort developments.

Šolta has been inhabited since antiquity and its economy has long combined fishing, agriculture and seafaring; modern tourism complements rather than replaces these traditional activities.

The island lies off the Dalmatian coast near the city of Split and is reached by ferry services that call at the main port of Rogač, providing regular connections with the mainland.
