Slovincian National Park
Park Polish coastal park protecting dunes and Lake Łebsko
Slovincian National Park protects Baltic coastline west of Łeba, with shifting sand dunes, coastal lakes, bogs and pine forests; people come for hiking, birdwatching and to walk the moving-dune trails.
Słowiński National Park is a protected coastal landscape in northern Poland on the Baltic Sea, established in the 20th century to conserve unique shifting sand dunes, coastal lakes and wetlands.
Protected as a national park in the mid-20th century, the area has been managed to conserve its dynamic coastal processes and biodiversity, with conservation measures and visitor infrastructure added over time. The park is recognised for both its ecological value and its natural geomorphology.
Located on Poland’s Baltic coast in Pomeranian Voivodeship, the park lies close to the small town of Łeba and stretches along the shoreline and adjacent lowland areas.
- Shifting dunes: Moving dunes within the park rise to heights of up to about 30 metres and are notable for slow but visible migration driven by wind and storms.
- Access point: The town of Łeba is the principal access point for park trails and dune viewpoints, with marked paths and seasonal visitor facilities.
What to See #
- Moving dunes: The moving coastal sand dunes along the Baltic shore, a dynamic landscape of shifting sand ridges that can reach tens of metres in height and migrate over time.
- Lake Łebsko: Lake Łebsko, a large coastal lake separated from the sea by sand dunes and an important habitat within the park.
- Lagoons and reedbeds: Coastal lagoons, reedbeds and mixed forest patches linked by marked trails and boardwalks used for birdwatching and coastal ecology studies.
