Sierra de María-Los Vélez Natural Park is a protected mountain area in the province of Almería, Andalusia, that brings together the Sierra María and the Los Vélez ranges. The park protects rugged karst terrain, Mediterranean forests and rocky summits.
Walking routes and mountain scenery are the park’s main attractions, with hiking on trails through pine and scrub vegetation and viewpoints over the surrounding badlands and agricultural valleys. The landscape supports Mediterranean flora and fauna typical of southeastern Spain.
The area was designated as a natural park to conserve its geological formations, forests and biodiversity, and to regulate recreational use and land management.
