The Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial is a United States World War II military cemetery and memorial located near Nettuno and Anzio in Lazio, Italy, dedicated to American service members who died in the Sicily and Italian campaigns.
Carefully tended headstone plots, a central flagstaff and reflecting areas, and a chapel with commemorative art form the primary visitor features. The memorial layout includes a Wall of the Missing that lists names of those not recovered, and interpretive inscriptions describing the campaigns commemorated.
Established after World War II to inter and commemorate U.S. casualties from the Mediterranean and Italian campaigns, the cemetery and memorial were constructed and have been maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission. How to Get to Sicily–Rome American Cemetery and Memorial #
About 60 km south of Rome along the SS7 (Via Appia) near Anzio and Nettuno. By car from Rome take the A90 ring road and SS148/SS7 south; trains to Nettuno run from Roma Termini (then short taxi or bus). The cemetery is a short drive from Nettuno station.
