Serra dos Órgãos National Park is a protected area in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, preserving a segment of the Serra dos Órgãos mountain range. The park is noted for its steep granite peaks and Atlantic Forest biodiversity and was created early in Brazil’s national park system.
The park was established in 1939 to conserve distinctive mountain scenery and remnant Atlantic Forest habitats. Since its creation it has been managed to support both conservation and recreational use, with infrastructure such as trails and refuges added over time.
The park lies in the mountainous region between the cities of Petrópolis and Teresópolis in Rio de Janeiro state, in southeastern Brazil, within driving distance north of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
