Schwansee

Schwansee is a small lake in Bavaria, Germany, situated close to the royal palaces of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein near the town of Füssen. The lake is known for its scenic setting at the foot of the Bavarian Alps and its association with the 19th-century Bavarian royal landscape.

A short lakeside path and woodland walks provide direct views across the water toward the historic palaces and surrounding hills, making it a popular short excursion for visitors to the Hohenschwangau/Neuschwanstein area. The shoreline and nearby viewpoints are used for photography and gentle walks rather than extended hikes.

The lake occupies a glacially carved basin typical of the Alpine foreland, and the area around it was developed as a recreational landscape in the 19th century in connection with the Bavarian royal residences. The immediate surroundings retain paths and planting from that period.

Schwansee sits in Ostallgäu in Bavaria, close to the Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein castles and the town of Füssen, in the northern foothills of the Alps.
