Schloss Benrath

Schloss Benrath is an 18th-century Rococo palace in the Benrath district of Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, built as a ducal summer residence. The complex is noted for its formal palace architecture and large surrounding park.

Restored palace interiors and exhibition rooms open to the public, alongside an extensive landscaped park with axial paths and water features. The park and palace ensemble forms a coherent 18th-century designed landscape within the city.

Commissioned and built in the mid-18th century as a pleasure palace for the Elector Palatine, the complex retained its representative Rococo plan and was later adapted for public and museum use.

Situated in the Benrath district south of Düsseldorf’s centre, the palace and park are a major green landmark within the city’s southern suburbs.
