Scheffauer is a mountain peak in the Wilder Kaiser range of Tyrol in western Austria, with a summit elevation of about 2,111 metres. It is a recognizable peak within the Kaisergebirge and is popular with hikers and alpine walkers.
The mountain offers panoramic views over the Wilder Kaiser massif and toward the surrounding Tyrolean valleys and ranges. Trails to the summit are waymarked and include steep sections and short exposed pitches that require surefootedness.
Scheffauer is a natural limestone summit rather than a constructed site; it is used primarily for day hikes and alpine recreation during the summer months.
The peak sits above the villages on the southern side of the Wilder Kaiser, near Scheffau and Ellmau, in Tyrol and is accessible from trailheads in the valley.

How to Get to Scheffauer #
Scheffauer (Wilden Kaiser) is accessed from the village of Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser. By car follow the local roads into Scheffau and continue toward the Wochenbrunner Alm / Hintersteiner See area where parking and trailheads are located; from the village this is a short local drive. Scheffau is roughly a 20-30 km drive from Kufstein and is significantly farther (around 70-80 km) from Salzburg, depending on the route; from the Wochenbrunner Alm parking the ascent route begins on marked trails and the mountain approaches typically start with a short walk from the parking area.

- Start your ascent early in the day when weather is most stable and before alpine fog or afternoon storms develop in the Wilder Kaiser area.
- Use the standard approaches from the Scheffau/Going side and be prepared for exposed sections - the summit offers wide views of the Wilder Kaiser massif, so allow time for the return in changing mountain conditions.
