Schauinsland

Schauinsland is a mountain in the Black Forest near Freiburg im Breisgau in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, with a summit at approximately 1,284 metres and a long-established reputation for views and mountain recreation.

Schauinsland has a long history of mining for silver and other metals, with mining activity recorded since the Middle Ages; more recently the mountain developed as a recreational area served by the Schauinslandbahn cable car.

The mountain lies east of Freiburg im Breisgau in the Black Forest region of Baden-Württemberg, rising above the Rhine valley and forming a local landmark for the city and surrounding towns.
