Rising above Val d’Anniviers in Valais, Sasseneire is a popular alpine summit for hikers and ski tourers; routes include grassy ridges, rock scrambles and panoramic views of surrounding 4,000‑metre peaks.
Sasseneire is a mountain in the Valais canton of Switzerland, in the Pennine Alps, rising to an elevation around 3,250 metres. It is a recognized summit for hikers and mountaineers in the Anniviers valley.
Routes to the summit run from valley villages such as Ayer and offer ridge walking and alpine terrain typical of the region, with panoramic views over neighbouring peaks and glaciers.
The mountain has been part of local alpine recreation since the development of mountaineering in the region and is a marked feature on regional hiking and climbing maps.
Sasseneire stands within the Valais Alps above the Anniviers valley and is accessed from mountain huts and valley trailheads in the district.

From Grimentz or Ayer follow marked alpine trails and local waymarks toward the Moiry / Sasseneire routes; alpine huts and trailheads are signposted in the valley. For technical climbs, consult local guides in Grimentz or Zinal.
