Sas Rigais is a prominent Dolomite peak in the Geisler (Odle) group of the Italian Alps, located in South Tyrol. It rises to roughly 3,025 metres and is a well-known summit in the Dolomites for hikers and climbers.
The mountain is prized for its exposed summit ridge and panoramic views over the surrounding Odle peaks and valleys. Routes to the top include steep hiking and scrambling lines and several via ferrata sections that connect the summit to nearby peaks.
Geologically, Sas Rigais is composed of the pale dolomite rock that characterises the Dolomites and was formed during the Mesozoic era as marine carbonates uplifted and sculpted into the present rugged peaks. The mountain has long been part of local alpine mountaineering and is accessible from mountain huts and marked trails in summer.
It sits within the Dolomite range of northeastern Italy, between the valleys of Val Badia and Val di Funes, and is commonly approached from trailheads in the Alta Badia and Val di Funes areas.
