Šariš Castle is a hilltop medieval castle ruin in eastern Slovakia near the village of Veľký Šariš in the Prešov Region. The core stone fortifications date from the 13th century.
The site is a compact ruin on a prominent hilltop offering panoramic views of the surrounding lowlands and nearby Prešov. Remains include stretches of curtain wall and foundations that show the castle’s former footprint and defensive position.
Originally constructed in the 13th century as a royal stone stronghold, the complex later served as an administrative center for the Šariš region. Over subsequent centuries it was modified and ultimately fell into disuse and ruin; today it is preserved as a cultural-historical monument.
The castle stands above the village of Veľký Šariš, in the Prešov Region of eastern Slovakia, within easy reach of the city of Prešov. The site occupies a rocky hill that dominates the local landscape.
