Santa Catalina Island (Isla Santa Catalina) is a small island immediately adjacent to Providencia in the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, Colombia. It is part of the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve, a protected Caribbean marine and island ecosystem.

Fringing coral reef, shallow clear waters and small sandy bays are the main attractions, making the island popular for snorkeling, diving and small-boat excursions. The built environment is low-rise and oriented around fishing and tourism services linked to nearby Providencia.

The island is traditionally inhabited by the Raizal community and has long been associated with small-scale fishing and maritime life. Administrative and modern transport links tie it closely to Providencia rather than to the Colombian mainland.

Geographically it sits immediately next to Providencia Island in the western Caribbean Sea, within the Colombian archipelago; the nearest settlement and service center is the town on Providencia.

  • Conservation status: Lies within the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve, a protected marine area that covers much of the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina.
  • Access from Providencia: Linked to Providencia Island by a short causeway or pedestrian bridge, allowing easy access from the main town on Providencia.
