Sanabria Lake (Lago de Sanabria) is a glacial lake in the province of Zamora, Castile and León, Spain. It is the largest glacial lake in Spain.
The shoreline offers swimming beaches, walking paths through mixed woodland and boat or canoe access on calm sections of the water. Picnic areas and modest visitor facilities are concentrated near the main villages on the lake.
The basin is of glacial origin, carved during the last ice ages and later occupied by meltwater and sediment. Over time the area has been managed to conserve its natural character and native vegetation.
The lake lies near the town of Puebla de Sanabria in northwestern Zamora province, close to the border with Galicia and roughly a two-hour drive from the city of Zamora; the surrounding landscape is a mix of mountains, forests and small agricultural valleys.
