San Millán Yuso and Suso Monasteries

The Monasteries of San Millán Yuso and Suso are two adjacent monastic complexes in La Rioja, northern Spain, associated with early medieval religious life and the development of written Romance languages. They are recognised for their manuscript heritage and preserved monastery buildings.

The upper Suso complex preserves early medieval chapels and hermitages, while the lower Yuso complex contains larger cloisters, a basilica and later monastic buildings used for liturgy and community life.
