San Miguel de Lillo is a 9th-century pre-Romanesque church on Monte Naranco near Oviedo in Asturias, northern Spain. It is an important surviving example of Asturian pre-Romanesque architecture.
The small church originally formed part of a royal complex and was richly decorated; much of the original structure is now ruined, but the remaining section preserves characteristic pre-Romanesque sculptural and architectural detail. Visitors often combine a visit with the nearby Santa María del Naranco.
San Miguel de Lillo was constructed in the mid 9th century during the Asturian kingdom and is traditionally associated with the reign of King Ramiro I. Subsequent partial collapse and conservation work have left only part of the original building intact.
The church stands on Monte Naranco above the city of Oviedo in Asturias, a short drive from Oviedo’s historic centre and visible from approaches to the city.
