How to Get to Samokov
Samokov is most conveniently reached from Sofia by regular regional bus services; there is no direct rail connection. Buses from Sofia Central Bus Station provide frequent, inexpensive links and are the simplest way in.
Sofia Airport (SOF): Sofia is the main gateway to Samokov, about 50-70 km away. From SOF you can take a taxi or transfer to Sofia Central Bus Station (or coach direct when available) and then a regional bus to Samokov; coach journeys from Sofia to Samokov take roughly 50-70 minutes and fares are commonly around 5-8 BGN.
Plovdiv Airport (PDV): Plovdiv is farther away and less convenient for Samokov than Sofia; if arriving in Plovdiv you would typically transfer by coach or train to Sofia and then continue by bus to Samokov (total travel time significantly longer).
Train: There is no direct passenger rail link into Samokov from Sofia; rail travel ends at nearby lines, and buses are the main public link to the town.
