Rupanco Lake is a large freshwater lake in Chile’s Los Lagos Region known for its clear water and mountain-framed setting. The lake is a regional recreational destination for fishing and watersports.
The lake has long been used by local communities for fishing and freshwater resources; settlements and rural roads have developed along parts of the shore to support tourism and agriculture. Modern recreational use expanded in the 20th century with improved road access.
Rupanco sits in southern Chile’s Los Lagos Region, west of the Andean volcanic chain and within driving distance of the city of Osorno. The lake lies amid a mix of agricultural lowlands and higher volcanic terrain.
