Rumicolca

Rumicolca is an archaeological stone gateway and ceremonial structure in the Department of Cusco in southern Peru, notable for its dressed masonry and surviving arch-like form. It is identified in archaeological literature as a constructed stone arch and approach feature rather than a modern building.

The structure displays masonry work from pre-Inca Wari-period construction that was later modified and refaced by the Inca, so visitors see a combination of construction styles and techniques. The site is typically visited as part of the wider set of archaeological sites in the Cusco region and is of interest for study of pre-Inca and Inca engineering.

Archaeological study emphasises its role as a monumental gateway or entrance feature along ancient routes, and the layering of Wari and Inca work illustrates changes in regional control and architectural practice. It has not been the site of large-scale modern development and is visited primarily for its archaeological significance.
