Rtanj is a small, isolated mountain massif in eastern Serbia known for its sharply conical shape; its highest point, Šiljak, reaches 1,565 metres. The mountain is a local landmark and a recognizable feature of the surrounding landscape.
Hikers and day-trippers use a network of trails to reach the summit and ridges; routes typically involve several hours of ascent and offer panoramic views across the surrounding hills. The massif is also noted locally for beekeeping and mountain meadows rather than large built attractions.
The massif was formed by natural geological processes and has no long continuous human occupation as a town or fortress; the area has been used historically for grazing and small rural settlements at the mountain’s base.
