Rheinturm

The Rheinturm is Düsseldorf’s concrete telecommunications tower on the Rhine, combining broadcast functions with public observation and dining facilities. It stands in the MedienHafen district and is a prominent element of the city skyline.

Visitors can reach an observation platform and a revolving restaurant to obtain panoramic views over Düsseldorf, the Rhine and surrounding urban areas. The tower also features an illuminated clock display on its shaft that is visible at night.

Constructed as a modern telecommunications tower and completed around 1981, it remains in use for broadcasting while providing public amenities at upper levels. Ongoing maintenance preserves both the technical installations and visitor facilities.

The Rheinturm is located on the eastern bank of the Rhine in Düsseldorf’s harbour quarter, within North Rhine-Westphalia and a short distance from the city centre.

• Height and date: The tower is approximately 240 metres tall and was completed in the early 1980s, serving both as a telecommunications mast and a public viewing destination.
