How to Get to Pułtusk#
Pułtusk, north of Warsaw on the Narew river, is easiest to reach from Warsaw’s airports and rail hubs. A short local bus or taxi is normally required from the nearest railway station (Nasielsk) or from Warsaw for the final leg into town.
Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW): Warsaw’s main airport is the closest major international gateway to Pułtusk (about 55-70 km south). From WAW take the SKM/airport bus to Warszawa Centralna or Warszawa Zachodnia (20-30 min, ~3-15 PLN depending on service), then a train toward Nasielsk or Modlin and a short local bus or taxi to Pułtusk (total travel time typically 1-1.5 h by car; by public transport ~1-1.75 h).
Warsaw-Modlin Airport (WMI): Modlin is closer for some low-cost flights (about 35-45 km). From Modlin Airport take the ModlinBus or a shuttle to Modlin station or Warsaw, then regional train/bus links to Pułtusk (total public transport time ~1-1.5 h). A taxi from Modlin to Pułtusk is ~30-45 min.
Train: Pułtusk does not have a major long-distance rail hub; the closest regular rail links are at Nasielsk and Wieliszew with onward local buses or taxis to Pułtusk. Trains from Warsaw to Nasielsk take around 40-55 minutes; final bus/taxi leg from Nasielsk to Pułtusk is about 20-30 minutes.
Bus: Direct regional buses run from Warsaw and nearby towns to Pułtusk (often via Nasielsk and local routes). Buses are frequent enough for day trips and typically cheaper than a taxi for the short onward leg.

- Regional / intercity bus (~6-20 PLN) - Direct and indirect buses from Warsaw and other nearby towns serve Pułtusk; they are often the most convenient public option for direct city access and cheap for day trips.
- Local bus (2-6 PLN) - Local buses and minibus services connect Pułtusk with neighbouring villages and the nearest stations. Useful for short hops but less frequent in the evening.
- Taxi / ride-hailing (Short rides 20-60 PLN; airport transfers higher) - Taxis are useful for luggage or tight schedules, especially for airport transfers from Modlin or Chopin; fares for the short final leg are modest but higher than buses.
- Car rental / driving (Rental from ~120-250 PLN/day) - Driving from Warsaw is the quickest route into Pułtusk and gives flexibility to explore the Narew valley. Parking in central Pułtusk is straightforward, though the old town has pedestrianised areas.
- Walking - Pułtusk’s historic centre is compact and highly walkable, with the market square and riverside within easy walking distance from bus stops and taxi ranks.
