Psophis

Pszczyna Castle is a historic ducal residence in the town of Pszczyna, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland, with medieval origins and major 19th-century remodelling; it now functions as a state museum.

The ensemble includes a main palace block with preserved princely apartments and period interiors, a landscaped park directly adjacent to the castle, and surviving service buildings. The museum collection focuses on aristocratic furnishings, textiles and decorative arts assembled by the region’s former owners.

The site evolved from a medieval stronghold into a Renaissance and Baroque residence and later underwent extensive 19th-century reconstruction under the Hochberg/Pless family; after World War II the property became state-owned and was converted for public display.

The castle sits on the eastern side of Pszczyna town beside the market square and the town park, within the Silesian lowlands and roughly south of the Katowice urban area.
