Porto Palermo Castle is a small coastal fortress on a narrow peninsula in Vlorë County, southern Albania, near the village of Porto Palermo. It dates to the early 19th century and is associated with the rule of Ali Pasha of Ioannina.

The site offers a compact set of ramparts and towers that can be explored on foot; the fort encloses a semicircular battery and has low curtain walls that give views across the sheltered Porto Palermo bay. There is a short shoreline and small landing area used by visitors arriving by boat.

Construction is attributed to forces loyal to Ali Pasha in the early 1800s and the fort was used for coastal defence during his rule. It later fell into disuse and survives today as a preserved historic structure rather than an active military site.

The castle sits on a small promontory on the Albanian Riviera within a protected bay between the coastal settlements of Himarë and Sarandë, in Vlorë County.

  • Access: Reachable by road from the Albanian Riviera and by small tourist boats; parking and short walk required to reach the fortifications.
  • Best time to visit: Best visited in late spring to early autumn when coastal roads and the small bay are ice- and storm-free.
