How to Get to Porto Cervo

Porto Cervo is most conveniently reached via Olbia Airport (OLB) with a short onward drive or shuttle. Public transport is seasonal - summer brings frequent shuttles and buses, while winter options are sparser and taxis or car rental become more important.

By Air

Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB): The main airport for Porto Cervo and the Costa Smeralda, about 25-35 km away. From Olbia you can hire a car (drive ~30-45 minutes), take an airport taxi (approx €40-€70 depending on season), or use seasonal shuttle/bus services to Porto Cervo (journey ~40-60 minutes). Shuttle/bus fares to Porto Cervo are commonly €7-€15 one-way in tourist season.

Alghero-Fertilia (AHO) / Cagliari (CAG): Other Sardinian airports are further away and require much longer onward travel by car or ferry; they are less convenient if your destination is Porto Cervo.

By Train & Bus

Train: Rail connections on Sardinia are limited around the Costa Smeralda; Olbia has a railway station but there is no direct rail line to Porto Cervo. Trains are useful for reaching Olbia from other Sardinian towns, then continue by bus or taxi to Porto Cervo.

Bus: Regional bus companies (ARST and private seasonal shuttles) operate routes between Olbia and Porto Cervo, especially in summer. Expect journey times around 40-60 minutes and fares typically in the €7-€15 range; frequency increases during the tourist season.
