PortAventura Park is a large theme park in Salou, Catalonia, that forms the central component of the PortAventura World resort. It opened in 1995 and is one of Spain’s largest and best-known theme parks, with multiple themed areas and a mix of family and thrill rides.
The park is divided into six themed zones - Mediterrània, Polynesia, China, México, Far West and SésamoAventura - each with its own rides, shows and restaurants. Major thrill rides and roller coasters are concentrated in the park’s thrill-focused zones, while family and preschool attractions are grouped in the children’s areas.
Since opening in 1995 the park has expanded its ride roster and guest facilities to become a multi-day resort together with adjacent hotels and a water park. It operates seasonally with peak attendance in summer and holiday periods.
PortAventura Park is located near the town of Salou, in the province of Tarragona on Spain’s Costa Daurada, about 100 km southwest of Barcelona and close to the Mediterranean coast.

PortAventura is about a 10-15 minute drive from Salou and Vila-seca. The nearest major train station is Tarragona (around 15-20 minutes by taxi); there are also bus services from Barcelona and Reus airports. PortAventura’s resort shuttle services run from nearby transport hubs.

- Arrive before park opening to ride the headline coasters with smaller queues (Shambhala, Dragon Khan).
- Purchase express passes online if visiting in high season to reduce queue times.
