A city gate in Rome’s Aurelian Walls located on the line of the ancient Via Salaria, the road that historically connected Rome with the Adriatic coast.
Built with the late 3rd century Aurelian defensive circuit, the gate has been repaired and altered in successive centuries and has served as a controlled city entrance on the Via Salaria corridor. It has a continuous presence in Rome’s topography from antiquity to the present.
Positioned on the northeastern side of Rome where the Via Salaria approached the city; accessible from the surrounding modern districts.

Porta Salaria sits along Via Salaria near Piazza Fiume. The area is served by several buses and is about a 10-15 minute walk from Termini station.
