Plavnik
Island Uninhabited Croatian islet with lighthouse and cliffs
Plavnik is a small, rocky island in the northern Adriatic Sea off the Croatian coast, located in the Kvarner Gulf and administered from Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. The island is uninhabited and characterised by steep shorelines and Mediterranean vegetation.
There are no settlements or services on Plavnik; it is visited occasionally by boaters and anglers for its coastal scenery and surrounding clear water. The shoreline is typical of local karstic islands with cliffs and small coves.
Plavnik has historically been of limited human use because of its steep terrain and lack of freshwater. It falls within the wider island landscape of Cres-Lošinj and nearby mainland coastal features.
The island sits off the eastern Adriatic coast in the Kvarner Gulf, near larger islands in the northern Croatian archipelago and within easy boating distance of Cres and the Istrian and Kvarner mainland.
