Pieskowa Skała is a medieval castle with later Renaissance rebuilds located in the valley of the Prądnik River in Ojców National Park, Lesser Poland Voivodeship. The site dates back to the 14th century and is one of the better-preserved castles on the nearby Trail of the Eagle’s Nests.
The castle complex includes a defensive tower, an arcaded courtyard, and residential wings displaying Renaissance architectural features. The site hosts museum displays of interior rooms and regional artifacts and offers short walking trails to nearby limestone formations, including notable rock outcrops.
Originally established in the 14th century as a royal defensive stronghold commissioned during the reign of King Casimir III, the castle underwent significant Renaissance reconstruction in the 16th century. It later passed through private hands, fell into disrepair, and was restored in the 20th century; today it functions as a museum branch of the National Museum in Kraków.
The castle sits within Ojców National Park, roughly 25-30 km northwest of Kraków, in a limestone valley carved by the Prądnik River. The nearest village is Pieskowa Skała and the site is accessible by road from the Kraków area.
