Piața Constituției

Piața Constituției is a major public square in central Bucharest that faces the Palace of the Parliament. It functions as a primary site for mass events, concerts and national celebrations.

A broad paved area stretches in front of the Palace of the Parliament, providing open space for gatherings, civic ceremonies and large concerts; temporary staging and seating are frequently installed. The square affords close-up views of the palace’s monumental west facade and is a focal point for public events.

The square and the adjacent palace were planned and constructed during the late communist period under Nicolae Ceaușescu as part of a large-scale urban redevelopment; the palace itself remains one of the most prominent and controversial architectural legacies of that era. Since the 1990s the square has been used for public celebrations and commercial events.

Located on the left (western) side of the Palace of the Parliament in central Bucharest, the square sits near the Dâmbovița River and is within walking distance of the city centre and major boulevards.
