How to Get to Petnjica
Petnjica is a rural municipality reached primarily by road from Montenegro's main transport hubs (Podgorica or Bijelo Polje). There is no direct passenger rail service into Petnjica, so bus or car transfers complete the journey.
Podgorica Airport (TGD): Podgorica is the nearest international airport for reaching Petnjica by road. From TGD the drive to Petnjica takes about 1.5-2 hours; taxis and pre-booked transfers are available and typically cost EUR 70-120 depending on vehicle and negotiation.
Tivat Airport (TIV) / Berane (regional): Tivat is another international gateway but is farther by road. Berane has a small regional airport historically used irregularly; most travellers use Podgorica or nearby larger hubs and continue by road to Petnjica.
Train: Montenegro’s rail network is limited and does not directly serve Petnjica. The nearest regular rail links are at Podgorica or Bijelo Polje on the Belgrade-Bar/Bar-Podgorica corridor; from those hubs you continue by bus or car.
Bus: Intercity buses connect Podgorica, Bijelo Polje and Berane with stops near Petnjica. Bus journeys from Podgorica or Bijelo Polje take around 1.5-3 hours depending on route; fares are modest (single-digit to low-double-digit EUR).
