How to Get to Peshtera

Peshtera is easiest reached via Plovdiv Airport (closer) or Sofia Airport (more international connections). Both airports connect to regional buses and trains; travelling via Plovdiv is usually quicker if you want the shortest onward journey.

By Air

Sofia Airport (SOF): From Sofia Airport you can reach Peshtera by first taking the metro or bus to Sofia Central Station and then an intercity bus or train toward Pazardzhik/Peshtera. Total travel time (airport to Peshtera) is around 1.5-2.5 hours depending on connections. Taxi from Sofia airport to Peshtera is possible but long and relatively expensive (typically ~90-140 BGN, depending on operator).

Plovdiv Airport (PDV): Plovdiv is the closer airport to Peshtera (about 45-60 km). From Plovdiv Airport take a taxi or a bus into Plovdiv city (city bus or airport shuttle) and then an intercity bus or regional train to Peshtera. Typical combined travel time is about 1-1.5 hours from Plovdiv Airport to Peshtera; expect taxi fares from the airport to Plovdiv centre ~10-20 BGN and an intercity bus/train ticket to Peshtera under 10-15 BGN.

By Train & Bus

Train: Peshtera is served by the Bulgarian State Railways network; the nearest rail stop is Peshtera station on regional lines linking Pazardzhik and Velingrad.
