Penyal d'Ifac Natural Park

Penyal d’Ifac Natural Park is a protected limestone headland on the Costa Blanca at the seafront of the town of Calpe in the Valencian Community of Spain; the rock rises to 332 meters and is a dominant coastal landmark. The promontory and immediate surroundings are designated as a natural park for their geology and birdlife.

Hikers use the marked trail that climbs from the town to the summit, a route that gains roughly 332 meters of elevation and can be completed in under two hours by fit walkers. From the top there are clear views along the Mediterranean coast, the town of Calpe and nearby offshore islets.

The reserve is also valued for its seabird colony and specialized coastal vegetation, making it a destination for nature observation and photography. The small park area concentrates the key features close to town, so most visits combine a beach or town stay with the short climb.

The rock has long served as a maritime landmark and lookout point for local communities. Formal protection as a natural park was established to conserve its geology, flora and breeding bird populations and to manage visitor access.

The promontory sits adjacent to the town of Calpe on the Alicante coast of the Valencian Community, on the Costa Blanca. It is a coastal feature directly accessible from the town seafront and lies on the Mediterranean shoreline about an hour by road north of the city of Alicante.
