Parque del Oeste

Parque del Oeste is a large public park in the west of Madrid notable for its elevated terraces and the presence of an ancient Egyptian temple. The park is a prominent green space within the city and contains the relocated Temple of Debod, a key landmark in Madrid.

Paths, lawns and planted promenades create a mix of informal and formal landscapes that attract walkers, photographers and locals seeking views over western Madrid. The temple plaza and adjacent terraces are especially frequented at sunset for panoramic city views.

The Temple of Debod was donated to Spain and reassembled in the park in 1972; the park area around it has long been used for leisure and public promenades. Over the 20th century the site has been adapted for public access and viewpoints while retaining large planted areas.

The park sits on the western edge of central Madrid, above the river valley near the Casa de Campo and the Moncloa/Argüelles area, within the Community of Madrid.
