Parque de María Luisa

Parque de María Luisa is Seville’s principal public park, originally part of the grounds of the San Telmo Palace and legally transferred to the city in the late 19th century. It was substantially redeveloped for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition and contains major ornamental plazas.

The green space was created from the palace gardens and was given to the city in the 1890s; it was later landscaped and embellished for the 1929 exposition, which introduced the Plaza de España and other pavilions. The park remains a municipal garden and popular public space.

Located in the historic centre of Seville in Andalusia, the park lies south of the old town and is adjacent to the Guadalquivir riverfront, easily reached on foot from Seville Cathedral and other central landmarks.
