Parintins Travel Guide
City City in Amazonas, Brazil's cultural hub
Every June Parintins erupts for the Boi-Bumbá festival - two rival teams, flamboyant floats and frenetic dances. Travelers come for Amazon riverboats, local beef-and-fish cooking and the island’s folklore performances.
Why Visit Parintins? #
On the banks of the Amazon River, Parintins draws travelers for its singular folkloric celebration and rainforest setting. The annual Festival do Boi-Bumbá-where the rival Caprichoso and Garantido teams perform at the Bumbódromo-turns the entire island into a theatrical spectacle rooted in Amazonian folklore. Outside festival season, visitors find colorful local handicrafts, riverine rhythms, and regional cuisine centered on fish like tambaqui, all infused with the island’s deep cultural rhythms.
