Parc Borély
Park Marseille park combining botanical gardens and historic avenues
Public park in Marseille surrounding Château Borély with botanical plantings, rose gardens, a boating lake and proximity to the Prado seafront.
Parc Borély is a major public park in Marseille that combines landscaped gardens, open lawns and a historic château. It functions as a principal green space for recreation and cultural uses in the city.
Wide promenades, formal flower beds, lawns for recreation and tree-lined alleys provide space for walking, picnics and informal sport. A botanical garden and ornamental plantings offer horticultural interest, while the château forms a focal point within the grounds.
The estate originated as a private garden and country house complex in the 18th century and was later converted into a public park as the city expanded. The château and surrounding gardens reflect the site’s evolution from private estate to municipal green space.
Parc Borély sits in the southern part of Marseille close to the Prado seafront and coastal avenues, providing easy access from central districts and nearby beaches.

How to Get to Parc Borély #

Several city buses (lines 19, 21) stop near the park; there is limited on‑street parking along the avenue.
Tips for Visiting Parc Borély #
- Enter from the Avenue du Prado side to avoid the traffic noise and find shaded paths immediately.
